Today we celebrated our 5th graders with a parade! We are very proud of you and your hard work! "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."- Eleanor Roosevelt.

Hanahan Elementary students had a great time on Friday when the Charleston Riverdogs came to visit! The players read a story aloud to the students in English and Spanish and Charlie the Riverdog gave out hugs and high fives. This was part of the baseball organization's Festival de Lectura program, which promotes literacy in schools.

As a way of continuing to promote child nutrition and adding to the many celebrations capping the end of the school year, Berkeley County School District’s Office of Child Nutrition Services will launch a special giveaway next week (May 20–24) that will offer some big prizes.
Elementary, middle and high school students eating lunch and/or breakfast next week will be entered into a drawing for prizes that include, but are not limited to:
*iPads
*Wireless earbuds/headphones
*Underwater cameras
*Projectors
*Action cameras
*Bluetooth speakers
Students will receive one entry into the drawing for each meal they eat. Winners will be drawn at random, and those who eat multiple meals will obviously have an increased chance of winning.

Due to forecasts for continued severe weather resulting in area power outages, and concerns regarding impacts on roads and facilities throughout the evening, Berkeley County School District (BCSD) schools and offices will operate on a 2-hour weather delay on Wednesday, January 10.
There will be no before school care programs, but after school programs and athletics will resume normal operations on Wednesday.
Bus riders will report to bus stops two hours later than their regularly scheduled time. Information concerning school start times and bell schedules when operating on a 2-hour weather delay is available on the BCSD website here: https://www.bcsdschools.net/o/bcsd/page/school-bell-schedules.
District officials are continuing to work closely with the Berkeley County Emergency Management Department, local power providers, and law enforcement to monitor the weather and potential impact on the county. Officials are also receiving regular updates from the National Weather Service.
As safety and security is our number one priority, all decisions are made with the safety of students, staff, and families in mind.
